SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. — August 29, 2023 — The San Manuel Band of Mission Indians has committed a generous donation of $100,000 to the American Red Cross to help those affected by the Hawaii wildfires. This donation will aid the Hawaii wildfires relief efforts and provide much needed shelter, food, supplies, and comfort to affected communities.
San Manuel Band of Mission Indians’ support of the Red Cross is a further extension of the Tribe’s philanthropic outreach to render aid to communities facing disasters and recovery efforts. San Manuel has been a partner with the American Red Cross for more than 20 years.
San Manuel Band of Mission Indians Chairwoman Lynn Valbuena says the Tribe understands the tremendous impact the devastation has left on the island of Maui, and the families that call it home. The Tribe stands with those that are dealing directly with the wildfire as well as those brave professional public servants who are helping with recovery efforts.
“In our time of need, our Tribe received aid from those who were rooted in selflessness and chose to use their resources to provide life-saving support to our family. It is an honor to in turn, do the same for the Hawaiian community facing devastation due to the wildfires,” Chairwoman Lynn Valbuena says. “We extend our hopes for their full recovery. The Tribe stands with you as you work to rebuild your lives and communities. Our thoughts and prayers are with those in Maui and their families.”

The Red Cross is on the ground on the islands of Maui and Oahu providing aid and resources, including shelter, meals, supplies, and more, for people who the wildfires have impacted.
